In the Trump era, I’m much more worried about the policies for which I’m willing to credit union activities: non-discrimination, workplace safety, wage and hour rules, and so on. One reason the unions have declined, among others as the Economist article says, is that they got what they were fighting for. I believe those victories will be rolled back in the coming four years. However, the following: Trumpism “systematically begin[s] to dismantle a lot of the things that the trade unions won in the 20th century,” doesn’t ring true.
