The gray ladies of Nantucket: building codes and peer pressure must both be intense here. Nearly all houses use exactly the same cedar shingles and white trim. It’s a pretty look but goes a little Stepford if you think about it too much.

Of course we looked at real estate prices a bit… We’re staying in a $3 million neighborhood – yowza! However, at least according to Zillow, the annual property taxes are less than we pay for our house worth a tenth as much. With this many tourists, I guess you can fund your town with Other People’s Money.

Nantucket has strict rules about trash and recycling, so we had to make sure the leftover birthday cake didn’t get put in the wrong container.

Games night on the island was a lot of fun. We tried a bunch of new games, including this one called “Stare at the Tablecloth.”
