It’s a hell of a town.
In which we find ourselves in another part of the world

It’s a hell of a town.

The ridiculous and the sublime
On today’s plane ride I watched Hansel and Gretel Witch Hunters, which was every bit as awesome as the title suggests.
With ridiculous out of the way , I got some sublime in the powerful and moving African stone sculpture gallery that you can see if you walk between ATL terminals A and T.

One more from Chesterfield
Yesterday’s events started off with a tug-of-war, boys against the girls. Girls won.

B-boro in bloom
The Jeanne Johnson Memorial Garden outside the Brattleboro Retreat.

Fiddleheads at the Student Prince in Springfield, MA. Never had them before, they are excellent! And the Student Prince is great too… who’da thunk it?

I went on a pilgrimage of sorts to Guy Fieri’s restaurant near Times Square last night because of this review: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/11/14/dining/reviews/restaurant-review-guys-american-kitchen-bar-in-times-square.html?_r=0
I like Fieri’s TV show, but after walking into the place to get a drink and being completely ignored by the bartender I gotta agree with the review.

Mormon Tabernacle
Jesse and I wandered over to Temple Square for him to take a look around. We fended off the friendly advances of the Sister Missionaries, and went into the tabernacle. Somebody was playing the organ, practicing, and the whole building shook.

You can’t go home again
This is the sad sign on the door of the former Johnny Kolache’s. I was one of the very first people to write my name in magic marker on the wall.

Yin and Yang
It’s an astonishingly beautiful spring morning.
Flags are at half staff to honor the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings.

Behind the Brooks House
It’s been almost 2 years since the devastating Brooks House fire. The new owners have tried very hard to get financing to redevelop the gutted property, but they’re still struggling.
The daffodils don’t care.
