Downtown Christiansted
Christiansted is the island’s larger, busier and more prosperous town. We wandered around yesterday and peeked in some shops, walked along the waterfront, and tried a couple of the restaurants. Still plenty of opportunity for more people to show up. Maybe most visitors stay inside the several large resorts that are scattered around the island, leaving the towns and the smaller attractions gasping for breath.

Looking SSW from Pt. Udall
At least one of the bronze posts that feature prominently in the Point Udall monument has been completely sawed through… this one has so far survived. Likely the thief’s battery went dead.
High season brings a crowd to Pt. Udall. Not shown are the two (two!) additional cars behind us.

Bird Leader this is Bird One. We would just as soon hang out here on the pier and let the wind whistle through our feathers. Some of the boys have adopted an aerodynamic low profile stance which they say will impress the tourists and confound our enemies.
