The shopping district in Legian was a crowded maze of massage / pedicure places (including lots of the ones where the fish nibble at the skin on your feet), souvenir shops, restaurants, tailors, and who knows what else. There were also lots and lots of temples and shrines.
Recognizing their audience is changing, one store offered plus sizes. Motor scooters are much more common than cars. This tricked out mini cafe racer sat outside a tattoo shop.
It didn’t feel as unsafe as some of the other cities I’ve visited, but I still wouldn’t put my feet into those fish tanks or venture too far back into the alleys and lanes.
