The r-r-rest of the R-r-rijksmuseum
Beyond the “Gallery of Honor”, we had a great time, a surprisingly great time, exploring the rest of the museum today. We both overdosed pretty quickly on the Important Oeuvres of Great Import, but there were a lot of other things to see.
We stood and listened for a minute while the very engaging tour guide (at least it seemed engaging, it was in Dutch) told a bunch of kids the story depicted in some naval battle painting, and we expect they will remember that painting long after they have forgotten all the others.
We really enjoyed looking at the Rozenburg pottery pieces from the early 20th century (Christmas gift idea, everyone). The model ship gallery, Meissen porcelain exhibit, and delftware exhibit were all a lot of fun.
I’m in the middle of a website redesign at work, and so I’m thinking more than usual about typography. It struck me that the numbering on this World War I fighter plane did not lend itself to being taken particularly seriously.
