Mary, queen of the world

Built in the 19th century to thumb the Catholic nose at ruling Protestants. A replica of St. Peter’s in Rome. Very beautiful church.

I’ll say in passing that the name of this place reminded me of the Mary, Queen of the Universe shrine in Orlando… across the freeway by the outlet mall… which I have always thought was the tackiest place on earth. Luckily… Montreal’s shrine to Mary is beautiful and so Orlando is still the Queen City of Tackiness.
