The Parisian bike hire system is extensive and mostly works… We rode around some yesterday and today.

I realize that I’ve basically never been on the roads here, I’ve always walked or taken the Metro. Traffic is terrible, not mean driving, but aggressively self-interested. Still, to just be riding along and come on all the major monuments was a lot of fun. Here I am at Place de la Bastille, where we also ran into a publicity campaign for bike safety… So we got free helmets and safety vests, which was cool.
