Sugarin’

On the way home from Great Barrington this afternoon, we stopped at the Paradise Farm sugarhouse in West Brattleboro.

We got to sample fresh made apple cider donuts, and had a little tour of the sugaring operation, which is basically a giant pan with a wood stove underneath. According to the guy manning the controls, it takes a whole lot of wood to bring 55 gallons of sap to 219°F, in order to make 1 gallon of maple syrup.
