Fitzroy Gardens
One final set from Melbourne. Our last attraction was the lovely Fitzroy Gardens, one of a string of gorgeous parks. It’s home to a model Tudor village (which is merely cute until you learn that it was donated by the grateful residents of an English village in response to Melbourne’s donation of foodstuffs after World War II), The famous fairy tree, Capt. Cook’s cottage (which was relocated from its original site in England), and a charming conservatory full of beautiful hothouse flowers.
The conservatory has a sign on the door warning that wedding photography requires a permit, and anyone caught taking unauthorized wedding pictures can be ejected from the premises. They take no bullshit, these Melburnians.
