Pont-canal d’Aven

This morning we will step up a series of 4 locks to the Pont-canal d’Aven, which may be the most impressive piece of engineering on this whole section of the canal. Almost 600 meters in length, built in the 1840s, and still going strong, it will get us across the Garonne, which is flowing very strongly in its springtime flood.
