This afternoon, I heard the sound of a brass band warming up. Then, I saw people start to assemble in the parking lot out front. It was the annual, or semi-annual, or occasional, protest against the continued operation of the Vermont Yankee nuclear energy plant. Fueled by youthful enthusiasm, deep commitment, or just a nice spring sunny afternoon, hundreds of people came out to march, to chant, to protest.
